Repentance

Introduction. Repentance is a sincere turning of the heart and life away from sin and toward God. It begins when a person agrees with God’s truth, stops defending what is wrong, and responds to His grace through confession, faith, and changed direction. Repentance is not merely feeling regret or fearing consequences. Godly sorrow leads toward salvation, restoration, obedience, and freedom through Jesus Christ. What Scripture Says About Repentance. Where another person has been harmed, repentance may include apology, restitution, accountability, changed boundaries, or accepting appropriate consequences. Repentance is not self-hatred, public humiliation, or endless punishment of yourself. Its fruit is a life increasingly shaped by truth, humility, responsibility, and the grace of God.
