INTRODUCTION
According to the Bible, water baptism is the immersion in water of a person who has believed in Jesus Christ. It is a public act of obedience that follows faith and identifies the believer with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Jesus said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS ABOUT BAPTISM
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
DEFINITION IN EVERYDAY LANGUAGE
Water baptism is for a person who has believed in and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The believer is immersed in water as an outward expression of inward faith. Baptism does not mean that the person will never struggle again. It declares identification with Jesus Christ and a commitment to walk in the new life He gives. It is an act of obedience, public witness, and joyful belonging within the community of faith.

Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me through Jesus Christ and for drawing me into a life of faith and obedience. I rejoice in Your great love for me. Deepen my understanding of my union with Christ, and help me live consistently with the new life I confess. If I am preparing for baptism, prepare my heart to follow Jesus gladly and obediently. If I have already been baptized, thank You for that testimony of faith. Give me grace to continue walking faithfully with You and to glorify You through my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Through baptism, I publicly identify with His death, burial, and resurrection. My old life is buried with Christ, and I rise to walk in newness of life. I belong to You. I am free by Your grace, and I will use my freedom to serve and glorify You. Thank You for the gift of spiritual freedom. I will walk in that freedom because Christ has truly made me free. Read Romans 6:1–14 prayerfully. If you believe in Christ and have not been baptized, speak with a trustworthy pastor or mature church leader about preparing for water baptism. If you have been baptized, write one way you will live today in agreement with your new life in Christ.
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
