Jesus described spiritual life through the picture of a branch abiding in the vine. The branch does not create life by striving independently. It receives life through continuing connection. You remain attentive to Christ through Scripture, prayer, worship, obedience, and trust. Distraction may occur, but you can return without condemnation. Difficult seasons make dependence more important rather than less. Christ can shape your desires as you bring decisions before Him. Ordinary moments can become places of worship and fellowship. His life within you produces fruit that self-effort cannot imitate for long. As you abide, love, patience, courage, and faithfulness can increasingly mark your daily life.
