Welcoming Christ Into Your Decisions

A decision may feel urgent, complicated, or emotionally charged. You may be tempted to decide first and ask Christ to approve it afterward, or to wait endlessly for a feeling of certainty. Jesus invites you to bring the whole decision—motives, facts, options, fears, and consequences—into fellowship with Him. Scripture foundation. Proverbs 3:5–6, King James Version. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Colossians 3:15–17, King James Version. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. James 1:5, King James Version. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Inner teaching. Welcoming Christ into your decisions means allowing His Word, character, priorities, and presence to shape both the choice and the way you make it. It is more than adding a prayer after your preference is fixed. Begin with surrender: tell Jesus what you want, what you fear, and which outcome you are trying to control. Ask whether pride, approval, avoidance, greed, resentment, or impatience is narrowing your judgment. Proverbs tells you to acknowledge the Lord in all your ways. This does not eliminate careful thought; it keeps your limited understanding from becoming the only authority. Gather accurate information, identify responsibilities, compare realistic options, consider consequences, and seek expertise where needed. Let the word of Christ dwell richly rather than building a decision upon one verse removed from context. Colossians also places discernment within the body: trusted believers can teach, warn, and notice what you miss. The peace of God may help govern your heart, but peace is not merely a comfortable feeling. Avoidance can feel relieving, and faithful obedience can initially feel difficult. Test inward impressions through Scripture, facts, wisdom, responsibilities, and fruit. Ask whether the decision can be done in the name of Jesus—with truth, love, justice, gratitude, and accountability. Some choices remain uncertain even after prayer. If no option violates Scripture, use sound judgment and move humbly without demanding supernatural certainty. Set a reasonable deadline, choose the wisest available path, and remain teachable if new facts appear. Welcoming Christ also means accepting a no, a delay, or a changed direction without assuming you have been abandoned. Do not use spiritual impressions to override another person’s consent, ignore medical or legal advice, avoid financial facts, or excuse reckless action. Christ’s guidance is consistent with His character. Invite Him before, during, and after the decision, and let obedience matter more than securing your preferred outcome. Reflection. Have I honestly brought my motives, fears, facts, options, and desired outcome before Christ? Which choice most clearly agrees with Scripture, love, responsibility, wisdom, and truth? Alphamation. I acknowledge Christ in all my ways and trust Him to direct my path. I welcome His truth into my motives, options, timing, and desired outcomes. I do not rely upon impulse, fear, comfort, or my understanding alone. The word of Christ dwells in me richly, and I receive wisdom through prayer, Scripture, verified facts, responsible counsel, and sound judgment. Whatever I choose in word or deed, I seek to do in the name of Jesus with love, truth, gratitude, and accountability. I decide humbly and remain teachable. Amen. Prayer. Lord Jesus, enter fully into this decision. Reveal my motives, fears, assumptions, and attempts to control the outcome. Let Your Word shape my priorities and Your character govern my method. Give me wisdom to gather facts, consider consequences, seek trustworthy counsel, and respect every responsibility involved. Keep me from confusing comfort with peace or impulse with Your voice. Help me choose humbly, act in Your name, and remain teachable if You redirect my path. Amen. Daily application. Write the decision, your desired outcome, and your greatest fear. List the verified facts, relevant Scriptures or principles, people affected, likely consequences, and counsel needed. Set a reasonable decision time, pray for wisdom, and choose the option you can most honestly carry out in Jesus’ name.
