Develop a quiet inner awareness of God’s presence, character, and activity within your life.
WHAT MAY BE HAPPENING WITHIN YOU
You may believe that God is your Father while still approaching Him with fear, distance, or uncertainty. Experiences with rejection, disappointment, or an imperfect earthly father can influence the way you imagine God. Through Jesus Christ, God invites you to know Him according to His own character—as a holy, compassionate, attentive, and faithful Father who welcomes His children to draw near.
SCRIPTURE FOUNDATION · KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 6:9 KJV
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
Romans 8:15–16 KJV
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Psalm 103:13 KJV
“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.”
INNER TEACHING
Jesus teaches you to approach God as “Our Father,” joining nearness with reverence. God’s fatherhood is not defined by the failures of human parents; it is revealed through His holy and compassionate character. Through faith in Jesus Christ, you are welcomed into God’s family and no longer required to relate to Him through the bondage of fear. The Holy Spirit assures believers that they are God’s children and helps them cry, “Abba, Father.” This does not mean that God approves every desire or removes all discipline. A loving Father corrects, guides, provides, and forms His children for what is good. You can bring Him your needs without pretending, receive His truth when it challenges you, and trust His care when answers are delayed. As you know God more deeply as Father, prayer becomes honest fellowship, obedience becomes a response of love, and your heart learns to rest in belonging rather than striving for acceptance.
