For receiving today’s grace instead of rehearsing tomorrow’s fears.
Practicing God’s Presence. When I Am Anxious About Tomorrow. For receiving today’s grace instead of rehearsing tomorrow’s fears.
Step 1. Become still. Take no anxious thought. This is not an invitation to neglect responsibility. It is a call to act without surrendering the heart to anxiety.
Step 2. Read the Scripture. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Matthew 6:34, New King James Version.
Step 3. Contemplate slowly. My Father knows what I need. Grace is available for today’s obedience. Tomorrow is not my master; God is.
Step 4. Prayer of preparation. Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know my heart and understand this need: for receiving today’s grace instead of rehearsing tomorrow’s fears. Bring Your peace into my mind, emotions, and body. Replace fear, heaviness, and anxious striving with hope and quiet confidence in You. Give wisdom to everyone involved in my care, guide me toward responsible choices, and sustain me with strength for today. I surrender the outcome to You while remaining willing to follow Your direction. Let the truth of this Alphamation take root in me and become visible in the way I think, speak, and live. Thank You for hearing me, staying with me, and supplying grace for this day. I receive Your peace, trust Your faithfulness, and give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Step 5. Enter the silence. Breathe naturally and rest. Each time tomorrow enters the mind, return to the Father’s care. Choose five, ten, or fifteen minutes and begin the silence timer when you are ready.
Step 6. Receive today’s Alphamation. I am receiving God’s grace for today. Tomorrow does not rule my heart; God does. I release anxious thoughts, accept today’s wisdom, and entrust the unseen future to my loving Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen. This truth is planted within me. By God’s grace, I will continue trusting Him, knowing that in due time I shall reap if I do not faint.
Step 7. Record and respond. What future concern am I placing into God’s hands? What responsibility belongs to today, and what can wait?
